There are so many ways to celebrate the harvest season around the world. Día de los Muertos in Mexico; The Hungry Ghost Festival in China; Samhain in Scotland and Ireland; Fed Gede in Haiti; Chuseok in South Korea; Tutti i Morti in Italy; Gai Jatra in Nepal; Pangangaluluwâ in Philippines; Zaduszki in Poland; Obon in Japan; Pchum Ben in Columbia.

The existence of Halloween in USA goes back 2,000 years, when the Celts of Ireland celebrated “Samhain”, the start of a new year (November 1st). When Celts were conquered by the Romans, the holiday was combined with the celebration of the Roman goddess of fruit and trees “Pomona,” which is why we still bob for apples. All Saints Day eventually migrated to America. Neighbors would share stories of the dead, tell each other’s fortunes, dance and sing. Deriving from European traditions, Americans started to dress up in costumes and go to neighbor's houses asking for money or food, which became the “trick-or-treat” tradition.
