Bike Pump Review: Specialized Comp Airtool
The Specialized Comp Airtool Floor Pump costs around $60 and is really good for bicycles because it's got a presto and a schrader valve in one head that makes it easy to use. A lot of bike shops use this pump so you know they are bomb-proof and it's seen just about every type of bike; so no matter what kind of bike you have this pump is gonna work for it!
What I really like about this pump in particular is I like to know my exact tire pressure, especially in the lower range for a mountain bike. Below 30 psi, the dial is very accurate and really easy to read. Then of course as it gets closer to 60, 80, and 100psi (which are the ranges for hybrid and road bike) it's less fine-tuned than a mountain bike of course but you still have that reading up to 120 psi.
The grip is a sloping angle which makes it really comfortable to pump air and it does it fairly quickly: a few pumps will shoot you up to the right pressure that you want.
The stand has two foot placements that have a grip as well, so overall the usage is simple and this thing isn't flopping around everywhere. The stand holds well if you want to just put one foot on it but if you're cranking away and you got two feet on it, this thing isn't going anywhere.
Some pumps have fixed screws that you cannot adjust later on down the road. This obviously is built to last because not only are they tensioned to spec but later on if i want to tighten these screws, i totally can.
So really straightforward, affordable pump that's going to be your workhorse for a very long time.
